Basics of Crafting Guide
GoPets are smart and can learn their own skills! They can learn to cook, farm, tailor clothing, or fish - whichever you prefer. To teach your GoPet how to do either of these Crafting Skills, start with picking up a book from the
Crafting Shop:
Each of your GoPets can learn only one type of Crafting at a time so choose wisely! You can have your pet read the Crafting Book you bought by double clicking on it from your
Inventory and selecting the pet you wish to learn the skill. Once they've been taught the basics of Crafting, it's time to teach them some specific Crafting Skills! You'll want to head to the shop associated with the specific skill you've taught your pet:
For those of you that have or plan to teach your pet the Fishing Skill, your pet will only require one book to learn how to fish. Fishing pets will require Fishing Poles and Fishing Ponds to level up instead of books, but this guide should still be helpful to owners of Fishing pets who want to know the basics of Crafting.
For those of you that have or plan to teach your pet how to farm, cook, or tailor, look for books that say "(Skill Lv 1)". Since your pet has just learned how to do the skill you taught it, it can only create items that are level 1.
It's important to note that your pet's Crafting Skill Level is different from your GoPets Level, so you should take note of both of the level requirements before you buy a book.
Once you've bought all the Level 1 Crafting Books that you want your pet to learn, double click on the book from your Inventory and select which pet you want to teach the Crafting Skill to. Once a pet has learned a Crafting Skill, access the Crafting window by clicking the Crafting button from the
GoPets World Viewer:
There you'll find your GoPets current Crafting Level as well as the Crafting Recipes that they know. Crafting windows will look a little different depending on which Crafting Skill you've taught your pet:
Farming, Cooking, Tailoring and Fishing.
Notice they all have a Crafting Level Bar. Each new Crafter will start at 0/300 but as they practice their Crafting Skill they will progress, and most importantly, be able to cook better foods, farm better ingredients, or make nicer clothing! Users who have the September or October 2007
Premium items can put them out onto their desktop for an immediate +25 Crafting Skill Bonus for their pet's Crafting Skills as well:
The scarecrow will give Farmers a +25 Skill Boost, while the stove will do the same for cooks:
Tailors can put out the Sewing Machine to get this Skill Boost:
You can also see from these Crafting window examples that the known Crafting Skills of these pets are different colors:
As your pet practices these Crafting Skills they will become easier, and overtime your pet will know them so well that they won't get any more experience from doing them, meaning they'll have to learn something new to keep leveling. Here's what the colors mean:
- Red - This is a very hard Crafting Skill for your pet. They'll get lots of experience for growing or cooking this item.
- Orange - This is a little hard for your pet. They'll get experience from growing or cooking this item but not as much as when it was hard for them.
- Green - This is easy for your pet. They'll get very little experience for growing or cooking this item.
- Gray - Your pet has perfected this Crafting Skill. They will get no experience for growing or cooking this item.
