Playing With GoPets & Items
Here we'll focus on how you can interact with your
GoPet, visiting ones, and items from within the
GoPets Desktop window. Of course you'll need to
adopt a GoPet first. You may also wish to familiarize yourself with the
GoPets Desktop window and the
Inventory, too.
When you're ready, open the client and locate your pet within the
GoPets Desktop window. It should come jumping down from the top to greet you right in the center of your screen:
Some of the basic things that you can do with your pet are to pick it up from within the
GoPets Desktop window and move it by clicking on it with your left mouse button, holding the button down, then dragging your mouse around so that the pet goes where you want it to be. Let go once you are satisfied, and don't hold on too long or your pet will get upset!
You can also pet your
GoPet by rolling your cursor over it. You'll know you're petting them because the cursor will change to a different hand, and petting different areas will cause your pet to have different reactions:
Now let's access the Pet Radial Menu. Quickly left click once on your
GoPet to access it:
The buttons are as follows:
-
Feed - Click this to open your Inventory and select a food item to give your pet.
-
Dress - Click this to launch the Equip Pet window to dress your pet in all sorts of outfits and items.
-
Training - Currently disabled, this will allow you to train your pets different actions. More information coming soon!
-
Delivery - Click this button to launch the Pet Delivery window where you can send gifts and Shells to other users.
-
Status - Click this button to check your pet's health statistics and PEK Levels.
-
Shopping - Click on this button to launch the GoPets Shopping Mall within a browser in the GoPets client.
-
See More - Clicking this button will switch the Radial Menu to the Pet's Drop-Down Menu, which contains a few more options and can also be accessed by right clicking on your pet, instead of left clicking and selecting See More.
The most important thing in your
GoPets' Radial Menu is the Status button. Click on it to view the Status window:
From here you can check out how your pet is feeling, as well as access both your
GoPets' Pet Blog and your Profile page by clicking on you or your pet's Profile Picture.
To the right of your Profile Picture you will see "Lv." and then a number below it. This is your Leveling Achievement number.
To the left of your
GoPets' Profile Picture is a small icon signifying its overall mood. It will change according to how well you are managing its statistics:
If your
GoPet is ever upset, you can cheer it up by improving any of its different Status Bars:
- Fullness - Feed your pet any food to raise this status. Gold food items will help raise all sorts of statistics though!
- Health - Feed your pet healthy food choices or Gold Shell food items to raise their Health Bar.
- Play - Put a ball, balloon, or any other item out on the desktop that your pet can play with.
- Tiredness - Things that tend to tire pets out are travelling and lots of playing. GoPets rarely sleep for long times, but if this bar gets very low you might see your pet snoozing on your Desktop.
- Hydration - Anything liquid or with a high Thirst Quench Factor will fill your GoPets' Hydration Bar.
- Adventure - This Status Bar will go up the more your GoPet travels, either through GoVisit or the Send Pet feature.
- Human Love - Give your pet some well deserved attention by petting, training, or even feeding it and you'll raise their Human Love Status Bar in no time!
- Pet Love - Set your pet up for some social interaction with other pets and this Status Bar will go up. Try inviting other pets over, or sending your own pet to visit someone else's desktop, as just a few examples.
- Cleanliness - If this bar gets very low it's time to think about getting a bathtub (or borrowing one from a friend)! Pets will clean themselves, but that doesn't always do the trick.
Nobody likes to see an unhappy pet, so keep those Status Bars up! Keeping them up will be key when you want to train your pet. More info on that coming soon!
To the right of the Pet Status Bars is a small button that leads to your
GoPets'
PEK Levels window. Press it to get the following window:
More on
PEK Levels can be found in the
PEK Guide.
Let's go back to the
GoPets Desktop and check out the Pet Drop-Down Menu. Left click on your pet again to access their Pet Radial Menu, then click the See More button, or just right click on your
GoPet instead. You should see the following:
We've already talked about a few of the items in this list, either here, or in a seperate Guide, like
Equip Pet, Pet's Status and
Pet Delivery. Let's go over the things we haven't yet:
View Nameplate
Nameplates are a quick way to get a little bit of information about a pet and its owner. They display above every
GoPets' head and can be customized by buying different Nameplates from the
GoPets Shopping Mall, or by making them yourself with the
Nameplate Tool, which is an item that users with
Premium Subscriptions can buy. Here are a few examples:
The View Nameplate option in the
GoPets Drop-Down Menu goes hand in hand with your
Client Options. From
Options you can turn Nameplates off or on, but having a quick option in the Pet Drop-Down Menu allows you to toggle them a lot quicker, if you just want them to be on or off for a short time. Clicking on it from one Pets' Dropdown Menu will turn all Nameplates on or off, not just one pet's.
Wander
Although wander appears in your own
GoPets' Drop-Down Menu, it only works with visiting pets. More on that later.
You can also access a Pet Radial Menu and Drop-Down Menu for
GoPets that are visiting your Desktop. Left click on a visiting
GoPet, just like you would your own, to access its Radial Menu:
Your options for a visiting pet are limited in comparison to the ones you have for your own
GoPet, but you can still pet them, move them around and keep them satisfied with the included options in their Radial Menu: Feed, Status, Shopping, See More. The only real difference is in the Status option, as it will show the visiting Pets' Status, along with their Owners' Profile Picture:
Just like in your own
GoPets' Status window, you can click on the Profile Pictures, which will lead you to the visiting Pets' Blog or Owners' Profile page, depending on which you click. Along with that you can see the owner and pet's name below their Profile Pictures, as well as the owner's Leveling Achievement Number, and of course the visiting Pets' Status Bars, which you can help raise by using most of the same methods we talked about earlier in regards to your own Pets' Status Bars. You can even access the visiting pets'
PEK Levels window if you like!
You can also access a Drop-Down Menu for visitings pets by clicking See More from the Radial Menu, or simply right clicking on the pet itself:
Most of these topics have been covered earlier or elsewhere, so we'll just discuss the new options or differences in regards to visiting pets:
Wander
As mentioned earlier, this also appears in your own
GoPets' Drop-Down Menu, but it only works with visiting
GoPets. If you want to send a visiting pet home, click Wander and they will leave straight away!
Send Owner IKU
See the
Post Office Guide for more information.
Add Friend
This option makes finding new friends around
GoPets easy! Just click this if you want to send a Friend Request to the owner of a visiting pet. You can find out more about making friends and managing them from the
Friends List Guide.
Block User
If you're having problems with a user, you can click this button to block them from ever having their pet visit your desktop, sending you
IKU's and more. You can also block a user by visiting their Profile page on the website, and can manage the users you have blocked from your Block List, which is also on the webpage.
You should now have a good idea about how you can not only interact with your
GoPet, but friend's and visitor's
GoPets, too! You can also click on most items that are in your
GoPets Desktop window to access similar menus like the ones we've already talked about, but certain items may give you different menu options. For example, flowers will give you the following Radial Menu by left clicking on them:
Pretty basic: See More and Shopping are available, and their actions are identical to those found on Pet Radial Menus. Houses on the other hand will give you the following Radial Menu when you left click on them:
Again, very basic, but different options: See More and Go Inside. Using the Go Inside option will allow you to decorate the inside of any houses you own!
Food and drink items as well as certain toys, like balls, won't have a Radial Menu at all, but they will have a Drop-Down Menu that you can access by right clicking on them:
The options are pretty straight forward. You can click Put Back in Inventory to put the selected item away, and click Turn Left or Right to rotate it.
The Decoration Items, as well as Houses also have Drop-Down Menus which you can access by pressing See More from the Radial Menu, or just by right clicking them. They will have the extra option of Buy This Item, which will take you to their unique Purchase page in the
GoPets Shopping Mall.
That's it! You know all there is to know about playing with your pet, your friend's pets, and items! Remember that you can always contact
GoPets Customer Support if you have any questions or problems.
Now that you can play with pets and items confidently, try using the advanced techniques below with pets and items on your
GoPets Desktop window.
Advanced Techniques
- Just like the options to Turn Left or Right found in the Item Drop-Down Menus, you can rotate them, as well as pets, by holding down both the right and left mouse buttons then moving your mouse side to side.
- You can move most items up and down by clicking on the item, holding down 'Ctrl' from your keyboard and moving your mouse up and down. This will also make the item grow or shrink, adding depth to your scenery!
