Welcome

Welcome to GoPets! We are so glad that you and your new GoPet have joined our wonderful community. We hope you will enjoy playing and leveling up.

Leveling

Much of the information in this guide is the same as the Tutorial you completed when you first logged into your new GoPets account. As you level, this guide will pop up to help you along with the leveling process. If for whatever reason you need assistance at anytime, you can also access the GoPets Forum, or even contact GoPets Customer Support. We would be happy to help you.

You gain experience by playing the game, introducing items to your GoPet and Questing! As you level up, more things in the GoWorld will become available to you, like buying cool items for your pet, having your own store where you can sell items, and owning your own piece of GoLand! You can see what level you are by looking to the Leveling Bar in the bottom left corner of the GoPets World Viewer:

Let's start leveling!

First, try opening your Inventory. The button to your Inventory looks like this:

If you check your Inventory, you will see water and food for your pet!

Try dragging an item to your pet so they can eat and drink. You can do this by left clicking on the item you wish to feed to your pet, then dragging the item over to your pet:

If they don't eat it right away, you can try picking up your pet and bringing it to the food as well, just like you dragged the food item to the desktop:

Once your pet has eaten the item you'll notice your level has gone up:

If you want more food and water for your pet, you can visit the Pet Shop or The Welcome Mat. You can access these shops and more from the Shopping button in the GoPets World Viewer. It looks like this:

You can also buy items directly from the World Viewer if they are for sale on the GoLand you are visiting. To do that, find an item that has a shell icon over it. Shells are the GoPets currency. They'll either be Green , Pink or Gold Shells . You'll probably want to start with a Green Shell item:

To purchase the item, click on it and select the 'Purchase from User' option. It looks like this:

You'll get to see the price first, so you'll have the option to cancel if you like, but if you want to buy it, just press the check mark and it should show up in your Inventory soon after so you can feed it to your pet. Later on, when you own your own piece of GoLand, you'll be able to sell items this way as well!

Did you know that you can also give your pet a scratch around the ears? Try it! Just roll your cursor over them for a little while. They'll definitely enjoy it:

As a new user you can also update your Profile so other users can know a little about you. To do that, you can click on your Profile Picture from within the client:

Along with meeting other new users like yourself on the New User GoLands, you can also meet some more established users via GoChat. The GoChat window looks like this and should open the moment you open the GoPets World Viewer:

If you don't see it, you can open it by accessing the Community button, which looks like this:

Remember how we mentioned Questing, too? Quests make leveling up so much easier, and they reward you with Gold Shells and items for completing them. To start a quest, you'll want to find Alex:

Alex is a friendly sort, though he has a habit of hiding on GoLand. Don't fear though, he should be somewhere on the GoLand you've landed on! To start Questing, click on Alex when you see the following above him:

He will then give you your first Quest! For more information on Questing, check out the Questing Guide.

That's it for now. Good luck leveling up, and by the way - for each level you achieve, you will receive Shells.

Congrats! You made it to level 2! That was pretty easy, right? You completed the Tutorial on the land, learned how to take care of your GoPet and leveled all at the same time!

Sometimes you may want to have a place all to yourself. Well, we have given you your very own Private Land that holds 50 items. Other users cannot visit you on this land, however, you will still be able to enjoy visiting pets on this land. You can go to this land by clicking on the GoLand button and choosing My Private Land. If you are on your Private Land when you exit from GoPets, you will return to you Private Land when you login again. If you are a new user and do not own any other lands, you can return to the Public Land by clicking the GoLand button and choosing Exit My Private GoLand.

Now, you can send IKUs to other users. IKU's are a way of talking through images. Try sending an IKU to a friend. Click the Community button to get started, then select Post Office from the menu:

From the Post Office, select the New IKU button. It looks like a little piece of paper:

To start creating your IKU message, type a word into the Search Field, then press the Search button. Some images to match your word should show up:

Now just drag and drop the images to the New Message Area:

Type your friend's User ID and press Send!

You can add new friends by right clicking on their pet or left clicking their ID from the GoLand Visitors List. You can find the GoLand Visitors List on the left side of your screen when you are not the only person on a particular piece of GoLand:

You can also add friends through the web. Click your Profile Picture from the GoPets World Viewer and then the Search People button to the left of the page.

Congratulations, your pet can now travel the GoWorld! From the GoPets World Viewer you can access the GoLand Map and try GoVisiting some new people. Click the GoLand button and select the GoLand Map from the menu:

After clicking the GoLand Map button you should see the following:

See the piece of GoLand with a flag on it? This is your GoLand! Right now, you don't actually own this piece of GoLand. As a new user, you are set on a piece of GoLand owned by GoPets to help introduce you to the GoWorld. Once you reach level 5 though, you'll be able to buy your very own piece of GoLand. "Camping Spots" sell for 1000 and hold up to 75 items. There are also larger pieces of GoLand that go for 75 which hold 250 items for Non-premium Users, and 400 items for Premium Users. We'll explain more about owning GoLand when the time comes. For now, try visiting someone! You can click on any of the pieces of GoLand that look interesting to you to access a bit of information about that particular GoLand. You should get a window like this after clicking on a piece:

From that window you can click on the Jump button to warp yourself and your pet to that user's GoLand. When you want to return back to your GoLand, click the little Home button that appears in the right corner:

You can now create more storage in your Inventory as well. From the Inventory window, you will notice blue boxes beside your Main Storage Box (where you found the food and water when you first started):

You can click on one of these blue boxes to create a new Storage Box, and even give it a unique name:

To move items from one Storage Box to the other, simply drag and drop the item from its original Storage Box to the new one, like this:

If you haven’t noticed yet, you can also buy toys for your pet to play with. Perhaps a GoPets Balloon would make their day:

A fun item you might want to try feeding your GoPet is Coffee.

Who knows what a GoPet might do when they're filled with caffeine! You can buy it from the GoJava shop for 50 .

Have you been having fun GoVisiting other GoPets users? Did you also know that your pet will travel on its own as well? If you’re lucky your pet might find treasure chests while traveling:

Who knows what you might find in a treasure chest! If at anytime you want to call them back home, click on their Pet Profile Picture, right next to your own Profile Picture, and select "Call My Pet":

You can now upload pictures to the media section in your profile, too! This means you can customize your Profile Picture with something you find suitable. To do so, click your Profile Picture from the client, then click "My Profile" from the right side of the Profile page you should see an "Edit Photo" button. Click it, then browse your computer for a picture you prefer.

Have you tried dressing your pet yet? Your GoPet can wear all sorts of different outfits, from a cute dress to even a spacesuit! Check out The Welcome Mat for some inexpensive clothes. Once you have an item that you'd like your GoPet to wear, click on their Pet Profile Picture and select Dress:

You can then drag and drop the clothing item from your Inventory to the Pet Equip window:

You're getting closer to being able to own your own GoLand now! Soon you'll be able to give your GoPet a home of their own and buy them decorative items, toys, and more!

You've reached Level 5! Congratulations! You can now purchase your very own piece of GoLand where other users can visit with you. You can put items out for your pet to play (and level) with, including the Apple Tree that was given to you upon signing up for GoPets. Did you know that the Apple Tree will actually grow fruit that you can harvest for your pet? Ready to buy a piece of GoLand and try it for yourself? You'll need to open the GoLand Map from the GoLand button in the GoPets World Viewer, then find a piece that has a green paw print on it:

To find a piece of GoLand that is available to purchase, click the "Available Land" button:

Green Paw Lands hold 75 items and cost 1000 to buy. You should now have at least 3000 for reaching Level 5! You'll notice that there are also gold paw print lands as you search. These lands hold 250 items, or 400 items for Premium Users. They are 75 . If you'd like to own a gold paw print land immediately though, you can check out our Premium Membership options, or buy Gold Shells.

You can also purchase GoLand directly from users, but the prices will vary as most will be selling their GoLand for a profit and will have decorated them nicely with items that are included in the purchase. Land that is for sale by GoPets Users will look like this:

Once you've found the land that suits you, click on it to review its information, then click "Buy" to make it your own! Next time you restart the GoPets World Viewer, you'll be on your very own piece of GoLand!

You can also write testimonials now. Testimonials are a nice way to leave a little note to say hi, or leave feedback on a player (like when you do a trade with them). Go to a friend’s Profile to add one! From their Profile Page on the GoPets website, find the Testimonials button. It should be under their "About Me" section. Click it, then click "Write" to add your comment. You'll be awarded 1 for each Testimonial you leave!

You will get the Fortune Cookie of the Day now!

Fortune Cookies hold a little surprise for you every time you feed one to your pet. As our gift to you, HoLeeChow will send you one everyday that you play GoPets. Non-Premium Users get a Green Fortune Cookie, which hold small prizes like food, some Shells, small clothing or decorative items, or maybe even another Green Fortune Cookie. Premium Users get Premium Gold Fortune Cookies, from which you can win 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 21, 42 77, 99, 777 or even 2112 ! There are Gold Fortune Cookies, which have better prizes than the Green Tea or Strawberry Fortune Cookies. Strawberry Fortune Cookies fall between Green and Gold Fortune Cookies and usually hold more than the other Fortune Cookies. You can buy any of the Fortune Cookies, except the Premium Gold Fortune Cookie, for your pet from Xanadu Magic Ltd. Try feeding your pet one of the Fortune Cookies you have and see what you get! Check your Inventory for a message from HoLeeChow, then click it to receive your Fortune:

Remember, you will not receive a prize or a fortune if you open your fortune cookies on land that is not your own. However, you can open fortune cookies on a gpbuilder land. You can find one of these lands at x254, y258.

Did you know that your pets can learn skills? We call it Crafting! With Crafting, your pet can learn to harvest or make food. To begin Crafting, you will need to start by buying a recipe book from the Farmer's Market.

If you choose to learn cooking, your pet can start right now! Simply double-click the book from your Inventory to teach your pet the new Crafting skill, then click the Crafting button:

From the Crafting window you can see your pet's Crafting Level and the recipes or skills that they know:

Make sure you have all the ingredients for the recipe you just learned, then click Make!

If you're more interested in doing Harvesting, don't fret! It works similar to Cooking, but to do Harvesting you'll want to have your own piece of GoLand first so that you can put out your trees, like the Apple Tree you received for joining!

As the owner of your very own piece of GoLand, and an accomplished level 8 user, you are now able to change your Wallpaper and Sky Scene! Wallpapers and Sky Scenes can be found in many shops. Check out Dreamland for some nice 2D Wallpapers, or The Wallpaper and Sky Scene Shop for some 3D ones. Once you have purchased a Wallpaper and/or Sky Scene, it will arrive in your Inventory. Drag it from your Inventory to your desktop to change it. You can also manage your Wallpaper/Sky Scene, and GoLand in general from the Land Controls, found under the GoLand button:

You can now also access your Pet's Blog. Right click your pet or your Pet's Profile Picture to access their Pet Blog. There you can see what your pet has been up to!

It's important that your pet is clean! GoPets will clean themselves but there's nothing like a good scrub in the tub once in awhile!

Shampoo makes your pet much cleaner than if you would just bathe your pet in water. You can buy the White Ceramic Bathtub from the Bubbles Bathhouse Shop, but don't be discouraged if you can't purchase it for your pet just yet. A friend might have a tub out on their GoLand that you can use as well!

Congrats, you can now adopt your second pet! Click Breed from the Profile area in the GoPets World Viewer, or check out the Pet Shop to purchase a Pet Adoption.

Don't worry if you can't afford to adopt another pet just yet. Keep spoiling your first! You can save up your Gold Shells or purchase some if you really want another GoPet right now.

Did you know that you can create custom clothing and decoration items in GoPets? Premium Users can purchase the Custom Creations Tool and make unique items to their hearts content!

You can view and purchase our very own users' items from the Custom Creations Store, which updates regularly.

You have been awarded 100 and 60 for reaching level 9!

Did you know that you can belong to a group? Click Groups under the Community button in the GoPets World Viewer, or the Community tab on the GoPets website to check them out. You can now create your own group too.

As a level 10 user, you can also send Friendship Rings to your closest friends.

Friendship Rings give special benefits to the users who have them. When they come to visit your GoLand, they can leave more gifts than other users, and if given your permission through the GoLand Controls, they can even move the items on your GoLand, which is nice if you'd like to see your friends get creative with your items! Friendship Rings can be sent from the Friends List, found under the Community button. From it, you can select the Friendship Ring button.

You can also purchase Friendship Rings directly from the Pet Shop.

Your pet can also use Entrance/Exit Items now. Imagine your pet flying an airplane or skating off in style when they go and visit other users!

These items can be equipped just like clothing. You should see a special area at the bottom of the Pet Equip window to equip Entrance/Exit Items:

You can now start using your own store! Access it by clicking "My Store" in your Inventory:

To add items to your store, drag and drop them from your Inventory into the My Store Item box:

Then set the price you wish to sell it for and press "Sell":

You can advertise your store in GoChat, your GoPets Blog, our Forums, or anywhere else you can think of! To view your store, click the My Store button from the Shopping button in the client, or go to the GoPets Website and click My Store from the left side. You can also manage your store from the website, including giving it a personal name.

You can now buy your very own house! Visit the Housing Emporium to pick a house that you like. You can own more than one house too! To enter your house, drag it to your desktop, then left or right click on it and select "Enter":

You can create your own chat room in GoChat! To do so, open GoChat (if it isn't already open) from the Community button, then click the Create New Room button:

Give your new room a unique name then start chatting away!
