The Post Office - Sending IKU's, Items & Shells

Want to send a message or a gift to another user? The Post Office is where you'll need to go! Click on the Community button from the GoPets Desktop window to open it:

You'll start off in your IKU Inbox. An IKU is what we call messages sent through the client here. IKU Stands for IQ and Haiku together! They're a neat way of using pictures to express words:

Translated, this IKU Message means "Welcome to GoPets!"

Click on the first button from the second row to make your own. It's the one that looks like a notepad:

Notice that the buttons you have selected are highlighted in bright blue, and now you have a different window displaying. This is your Create Message window. To create a message you will have to find pictures you like that match the word(s) you want to express. Try typing something into the blue Search box, then pressing Search, or Enter from your keyboard. You'll see the images below it change:

You can view more IKU Image options by clicking the arrows on either side of the Image Search area. Once you've found the image you like, drag and drop it with your left mouse button into one of the empty IKU Message circles below the IKU Search area:

You will notice that hovering over each image will show you the word it is associated with, so even if you don't understand the image, you can find the word it was meant to represent:

Now all that's left is to select the user you wish to send the IKU Message to and press Send! You can type a User ID into the ID Box, or you can use your Friend List as an Address Book by clicking on the first of the two buttons located on the right, next to the ID Box. Simply select a user to send the message to them by clicking on their User ID from your Friend List:

Click the second of the two buttons located on the right side of the ID Box and your message will be off to your friend's IKU Inbox! You can check on the status of any messages you have sent from the IKU Outbox by clicking the third button from the second row of buttons:

IKU Messages that haven't been opened by the user they were sent to will display in gold and red, as well as appear as closed letters, while the opened IKU's display as opened letters in green and gold. This display feature is exactly the same for both your IKU Outbox and Inbox, in fact both boxes are practically identical, aside from their purpose:

From the IKU Inbox/Outbox you can read, or re-read messages you have sent or received by clicking on the message and selecting 'Read' from the menu above, or just by double-clicking on a message. You can delete messages by clicking on the message you don't need anymore and then clicking Delete from the menu. Use Select All and then Delete to remove all of the messages in a folder at once.

The last thing to point out concerning your Inbox and Outbox is the Mail Gage:

Your Inbox and Outbox can each hold a certain amount of messages before it becomes too full and will need to be cleaned up using the Delete feature explained above. When either Mail Gage reaches 100%/100% you will not be able to send or receive new IKU's until you have deleted some first. For each IKU Message that you delete from your Inbox or Outbox, you'll receive one Green Shell, so start deleting those old messages already!

Now that you know how to use your IKU Inbox, Outbox and the Create IKU Message feature, you may like to learn how to send items and/or Shells to another user. Click the second button from the first row of buttons to open the Pet Delivery window:

First things first! Enter in the ID of the person you wish to send the gift and/or Shells to into the "To" Field, then include a written personal message if you like. Again, you can use your Friend List as an Address Book by clicking the button on the right of the "To" Field.

To send an item you'll need to select it from your Inventory. Open it up if it isn't already by clicking the Inventory button from the GoPets Desktop window, then drag and drop the item you want to send into the box in the Pet Delivery window titled "Item".

The box beside the Item Section is meant for Wrapping Paper which you can purchase from the GoPets Shopping Mall. To apply it to your gift, drag and drop it just as you did the gift itself. Wrapping paper is optional though. If you don't choose a Wrapping Paper, your gift will arrive in basic brown wrapping.

To send Shells, write in the amount of Shells below the type (Gold, Pink or Green) you wish to send. Leaving either of the areas blank, or putting zero will send no Shells of that type, but you can send all three types of shells at once if you want to, as well as include a gift:

We haven't gone over what the C.O.D. function is yet. C.O.D. stands for "Cash On Demand" and is meant to aid users when they are making an item trade via IKU. To learn more about C.O.D. , go here.

When your message is complete just press the Checkmark at the bottom of the Pet Delivery window. If it sent properly, you will be notified with a message like this:

You can double-check that it was sent by clicking the third button in the second row, which will take you to your Gifts Sent page. The second button on the second row will take you to your Gifts Received page.

The only thing left to cover is the Add Icon to Dictionary section of the IKU portion of the Post Office. This feature is currently under construction while we look into some server issues regarding it as well as clean-up the current IKU Dictionary. We'll let you know with an announcement on the main page as soon as it becomes available again, as well as update this Guide with instructions on using it!

As always, we hope that this has helped you but if you need any further help, please feel free to contact GoPets Customer Support!

Check out the following advanced techniques once you are comfortable using the Post Office.

Advanced Techniques

  • You can select more than one message from your Inbox or Outbox by clicking on a message, holding down 'Ctrl' from your keyboard, then clicking on another message. The 'Shift' key can be used in the same way to select a group at once.
